안녕하세요! I'm yoonnnie and today I want to talk about 5 popular Korean dishes. Mmm, sounds delicious!

1. Kimchi

Kimchi, a staple in Korean cuisine, is a traditional banchan (side dish) made from salted and fermented, most commonly napa cabbages and Korean radishes, with a variety of seasonings including gochutgaru (chili powder), scallions, garlics, ginger, and jeotgal (salted seafood) among others. There are hundreds of varieties of kimchi made with different vegetables as the main ingredients. In traditional preparations, kimchi was stored underground in jars to keep cool, and unfrozen during the winter months. These days, kimchi refrigerators are used instead.

2. Samgyeopsal

Samgyeopsal is a popular Korean dish that is commonly served as an evening meal. It consists of thick, fatty slices of pork belly meat. The meat, usually neither marinated nor seasoned, is cooked on a grill at the diners’ table. Usually diners grill the meat themselves and eat directly from a grill. It is typically served with ssamjang, vegetables, and lettuce leaves to wrap it in.

3. Haejang-guk

                                 Korean tofu stew

Haejang-guk or hangover soup refers to all kinds of guk or soup eaten as a hangover cure in Korean cuisine. It means "soup to chase a hangover" and is also called sulguk. It usually consists of dried Napacabbage, vegetables and meat in a hearty beef broth. One type of haejangguk, Seonjiguk, includes sliced congelated ox blood (similar to black pudding) and another type, Sundaeguk includes a kind of blood sausage made with intestine stuffed with pig's blood and other ingredients.

4. Bibimbap

Cold Bibimbap 비빔밥

Bibimbap, sometimes anglicized as bi bim bap or bi bim bop, is a Korean dish. The word literally means "mixed rice". Bibimbap is served as a bowl of warm white rice topped with namul and gochujang, soy sauce, or doenjang.

5. Yaki Mandu

Yaki Mandu is a Korean dumpling that can be steamed or fried. They look a lot like Chinese pot-stickers. Yaki means fried in Japanese and Mandu means dumpling in Korean. They're great for parties or as an appetizer.
